Course Description:
This unique course focuses on four aspects of physical and health education; personal and group fitness, peer teaching, minor officiating and outdoor education. The outdoor education program includes training for and the participation in either a winter camping/snowshoe or spring kayaking experience. For each of the term trips, each student will incur an additional charge for food, transportation, guide and park fees. Outdoor Education trips are co-educational. All candidates wishing to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Program, should be enrolled before their first expedition. As well as at least one outtrip,
students will participate in a curriculum of instruction regarding
navigation, tarpology, tent setup, stove use, meal planning, etc.
Grade 10 Outdoor Education parent meeting - Tuesday October 19th 7 pm. location TBA.
Snow Camp in Strathcona Park
- Learn how to live comfortably with minimal impact, in a wilderness
winter camp accessed by snowshoe. There is a user fee of $250 for this program to cover the costs of transportation, food, equipment, and assistant guide fees.

Sea Kayak Tour in Southern Gulf islands -
Paddle in double kayaks, learning about tides and currents while on
route to camps on D'Arcey, Rum and Portland Islands. The fee is $240 for this program to cover the costs of transportation, camping, food, equipment, and assistant guide fees.
